Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has said the army does not consume a single unit of free electricity.
The problem of electricity bills is being hyped, he said while talking to journalists in Islamabad.
The major causes of the power crisis are line losses, theft and IPP contracts, he said, adding that the government contacted IMF for relief in electricity bills.
The PM continued: “We will be able to talk about relief in 3 days. There is no crisis in Pakistan. We are getting through a tough time.
“There is no concept of saving energy in the country. At this time, there are economic and security challenges.”
“From 60 to 70 billion dollars will be invested in Pakistan in 3 to 4 years.
“Correct diagnosis is essential for treating the disease.
“The hike in electricity tariff is a problem … it is not a law and order situation.”
